Chamber Music PLUS (CMP) exists to entertain, inform and educate audiences of all ages through innovative and contemporary programming that melds multiple art forms, engages multiple intelligences and deepens individual and community cultural experience through high quality arts presentation and educational programming. CMP, recipient of the 2002 Governor Arts Award, Connecticut’s highest artistic honor for distinguished excellence in performance, has enriched audiences and critics alike for twenty-five seasons with its fresh, innovative approach to classical music. Chamber Music PLUS has evolved into a national organization, recognized for innovative programming (most recently CMP was cited in a study by Alan Brown for the Knight Foundation). Whether working with children in schools or audiences in traditional settings, our offerings demonstrate the ever-lasting verities of chamber music; adapted and designed to meet the needs and desires of modern audiences, young and old. Founded and lead by cellist, author and playwright Harry Clark and pianist Sanda Schuldmann, described by The New York Times as "an exuberant pair, exhibiting artistic rapport and expressive unity with a quality of ardent commitment that shines through their work", the duo has proven that with creativity, clever production, and skillful presentation, chamber music can indeed flourish in modern times. Chamber Music PLUS began with a series of traditional chamber music concerts at Hartford's Old State House. It was then, as it is now, a civic arts organization, with its principal residence in the heart of Downtown Hartford and remains a resource for audiences that seek the unusual in the traditional form of chamber music.
