Music Speaks To Me PLUS Percussion Club 2004-2005 Music Speaks To Me PLUS is the complete educational package from Chamber Music PLUS- offering students in the partnering schools (Burns, Milner, Moylan and West Middle in Hartford, CT), grades 1-4, the opportunity to experience sixteen MSTM presentations; receive a sustained, high quality exposure to the performing arts while being immersed in arts integrated activities in the classroom setting, and gaining additional twenty five weeks interaction with master artists via the Percussion Club. Through its tweve years history, the program has impacted more than 10,000 kids from the inner-city of Hartford. It is worth noting that MSTM PLUS is singular in the Greater Hartford region on several fronts: •MSTM is the only program presented by a non-profit provider that enhances literacy while providing arts exposure through presentations by high-caliber professional artists. •MSTM is the only program of its kind that provides multiple (four) sequential visits to school sites across four contiguous years of education (grades 1-4). The program provides annually between 4-8 performances (depending upon grade size) for each of the grades (1-4) that are served in the four elementary schools that MSTM partners with. Each performance pairs Master Teaching Artists in two disciplines: music and theater. Performances are accompanied by a power point presentation of the skills being presented, allowing for reinforcement of curricula through a multiple intelligences approach (audio, visual, kinetic). The Percussion Club provides: direct classroom instrumental music instruction by Master Teaching Artists to 80-100 (40-50 X 2) students, informal forums for student performances, and three lecture demonstrations per academic year by visiting guest artists alongside the CMP Master Teaching Staff.
